I reckon this must be a record in any form of cricket. Dundrum  1st team recently unbelievably bowled Cliftonville out for just 10 runs  winning by 169 runs.

Dundrum  had a day they won’t forget with the ball as they  bowled Cliftonville out for just 10 runs. It took only 8. 4 overs with Andy Bassett  earning the man of the match award & Ulster Bank crystal taking 6 wickets in 4 .5 overs  hitting the stumps 5 times. New ball partner Dellon Craig got the other 4 wickets in his 4overs for just 4 runs with 7 batsmen failing to get off the mark.

Playing for Dundrum Cricket Club

After about 15 years away from playing cricket I am now playing for Dundrum Cricket Club. You can see more about the club, see scores and results and more on our web site.

I’m a bit rusty after all this time but with some practice I may yet get some runs and wickets. Mind you, I need to actually finish a game. In my debut against Templepatrick a couple of weeks ago I got hit in the head very hard with a cricket ball and had to go to hospital to get 3 stitches. What a memorable debut!!

Christopher Martin Jenkins gets the giggles

I was listening to the first test match between England and New Zealand during my lunch break at work and couldn’t believe my ears when Christopher Martin Jenkins came out with an absolute clanger. Reproduced from the Independent newspaper web site:

‘Test match special’ isn’t what it used to be, claim its critics, so all hail Christopher Martin-Jenkins for reviving the Radio 4 programme’s grand old tradition of corpsing. In the 52nd over of the First Test at Lord’s, CMJ intoned: “Vettori lets it go outside the off stump… good length, inviting him to fish.” So far, so prosaic. But he then continued: “Vettori stays on the bank, and keeps his rod down, so to speak.” Cue audible sounds of mirth from the rest of the ‘TMS’ team, before CMJ dug himself deeper by squeaking: “I don’t know if he is a fisherman, is he?” My, how we laughed. Well done that man; more of the same, please, in the many dull passages of play.

By now it’s probably famous, but if you didn’t hear it, it’s well worth a listen. You can here it here:
