Week of Worship in Poland
I have been invited to take part in leading worship at a week long gathering in Poland. It starts on the 22nd September at 6pm and finishes a week later on the 29th at 6pm. It is a whole week of 24 hours a day worship with 12 teams from across Europe doing 2 hours each day. I have done many of these type of events before and can do 2 hours a day but my voice and fingers get rather sore. I haven’t done this every day for a whole week before so it could be quite a challenge. I have asked some other musicians that I know if they would like to go with me but as yet no one has agreed to. I’d really appreciate and value your prayers for us both now and in the run up to the week, especially in the area of our marriage as this is a point of attack that the enemy uses to undermine, wreck and ultimately destroy our lives and ministry.
Resurrection Sunday Dance, Budapest, Hungary
I was recently told about this video by a friend. It’s amazing to see such hope and passion being released in the hearts of people across Europe, especially those in countries in the former so called ‘Iron Curtain’. God is raising up a new generation of passionate worshippers across Europe. Hope IS rising!

Why Worship?
Last Sunday I was invited to speak about worship at Annalong Christian Fellowship. The title of my talk was ‘Why Worship?‘ The idea was to make us think about why we sing worship songs, whether on a Sunday or at any other time. Are we singing to the sky? Is there anyone out there listening to these songs? Does God really care whether we sing to him or not? In my view it is so easy just to go to church on Sunday and sing the same old songs and just do it ‘because we’ve always done it’ but really don’t why or what it does. You can download the notes here. Hope you find them useful.

The Characteristics of a Worshipper
These are the outline notes used in a worship training workshop in 2003.
The Characteristics of a Worshipper from the life of David
- Prepared to become undignified (2 Samuel 6:11-23)
- Vulnerable to sin (2 Samuel 11 & 12)
- Warrior (Psalm 144; 1 Samuel 16:14-23)
- Desire for presence of God (Psalm 63)
- A person after Gods heart (1 Samuel 13:14)
- Thankful (2 Samuel 7:18-24; 2 Samuel 22)
- No fear of Man (1Samuel 17)
- Understanding of creation of God (Psalm 148)
- Able to worship in all circumstances (2 Samuel 12:18-20)
- Repentant – Knows Gods grace (Psalm 51)
- Desire to be Obedient (Psalm 86 (v.11) – Undivided heart
- Knows God (Psalm 19; 124; 139)
- Holiness (Psalm 24; 101)
- Heart for Unity (Psalm 133)
Hopefully some day I’ll be able to expand on this in more detail but for now point 2 is an interesting one. Generally when you set out to do some teaching on something that is entitled ‘The Characteristics of…’ it is common to think of the positives and character strengths. But in the context of worship, which satan hates so much, it is important to remember that we have an enemy that wants to exploit our weaknesses and bring our ministry and lives into a place of disrepute. Like Paul says, “we are not unaware of his schemes” (2 Corinthians 2 verse 11). But many of us are unaware of his schemes. We know that he wants to destroy society through poverty, suicide and more but are we aware of the ways that he influences our own individual lives? As worshippers we must not be blind to or worse still deny that we have vulnerabilities. What is it that you are vulnerable to?
